So this past week we have been working with the Boolean tool in 3DS Max, and it's quite simple and easy to use. You can union, subtract, merge, and use many other options to create compound objects with Boolean. I worked on independently creating a sci-fi weapon with Booleans, however, I did not have too much of a need to use Booleans. While it is easy and efficient to use the tool, I just don't see myself using it quite that often. Most of the time I would use it I think will be to subtract because it is a nice method for taking out parts of a shape you don't want without any hassle. For the most part though, Booleans have been easy to understand, you simply go to compound objects, ProBoolean (or Boolean), and then pick what you want to do with the shape and start picking. Other than a nice review of 3D modeling w=this is what we've learned =, which isn't too bad so far.

Yes, I am making a post on Persona 5, you're welcome. Persona 5 isn't to recent, but it still remains relevant due to its overall positive reception from Persona fans. But why is it so good? Well, let's start on the physical appearance of the game. Persona games have a very unique style, and Persona 5 really builds on that for quality artwork. When you first open the game you are met with very stylistic animation that looks quite aesthetically pleasing. Even when you are fighting the style keeps consistent. Another important aspect of Persona though, is the story. Storytelling is the core of what makes Persona 5 such a good game, and here's why: unique characters, character development, plot development, and unique environments. You play as the main character, Joker, and you collect "personas" to use in battle. This gameplay is directly linked to the story Persona 5 tells us so it feels real, and the player can be fully immersed. When gameplay and storyline are separated, there is almost no point to storyline at all, but in Persona you follow the story as you play and advance forward. Going back to aesthetic sound design in this game also meshes very well with the visuals, and I personally really like the opening cinematic and how it works with the music. Overall Persona 5 meshes gameplay, looks, story, and sound all to produce a lovely game for us all to enjoy, 10/10.
For this past careers assignment I learned about different careers available in the game industry: 2D artist, 2D animator, 3D environmentalist, etc.. I discovered the importance and formatting of your resume and cover letter, and to make sure to look into the company you are applying to before creating either documents. Finally, the importance of your portfolio. Your portfolio is useful to reflect the necessary skills for the job you are applying to, to show that you meet their requirements, but you should also go beyond that and show your skills to their full extent. What jobs in the game industry are looking for is peopled talented at what they do, and who can show their talent and dedication through their work, and the way to show that is by putting forward your best work on your portfolio. My own portfolio right now is primarily 2D, and needs some tweaking since I may want a job as a 3D artist, so in order to be considered for that kind of position it's imperative I show I have the skills required. I should make sure to keep tings relevant for when I apply to a job, and for the career of a 3D environmental artist, it wouldn't make much sense to have a mainly 2D portfolio. This is an area I will be working on this year, and throughout the year I will create more and more 3D pieces, the best of which I can add to my portfolio. As far as formatting, I am content with mine, because it's simple and easy to navigate with thumbnails and a slideshow, but the content itself needs more variety ass far as 3D work.
